Laurenz Strassemeyer advises clients on all areas of IT and data protection law, as well as on the implementation of current European data and technology regulations. He specializes in legal framework of data-driven technologies such as artificial intelligence, data protection compliance projects, and defending and representing companies in data protection proceedings before authorities and courts.

Details

After studying law att he University of Göttingen, Laurenz Strassemeyer worked in the field of IT law and data protection at a leading international law firm and a renowned Hamburg-based commercial law firm while writing his dissertation. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in the field of data protection law and the use of artificial intelligence, specifically in the area of federated learning. He gained international experience in the field of technology regulation as a visiting scholar at UC Berkeley School of Law and at a global cloud computing and artificial intelligence company in Silicon Valley. He also spent part of his legal clerkship at the Higher Regional Court of Celle in the department for European law at the German Federal Foreign Office.

In addition to his work as a lawyer, Laurenz Strassemeyer is the editor of the business-oriented journal Datenschutz-Berater. He is a prolific author and speaker on data protection issues, contributing to renowned journals, handbooks, and commentaries. He is also a member of the German Society for Law and Informatics (DGRI).

Since September 2023, Laurenz Strassemeyer has been a member of the KNPZ team.
